JoZi
Jozi Brownies was born during the Covid lockdown, when I started baking brownies from home just to bring a little comfort and happiness during a difficult time.
Very quickly, my brownies became something everyone kept asking for. Friends, family, school moms, and especially the kids absolutely loved them. Kids at school would stop me just to say, “We love your brownies!” One of my daughter’s friends even said that if she had to choose her last meal on Earth, it would be my brownies — and honestly, that’s when I knew they were something special.
One day I went to a girls’ day and, of course, brought my brownies along as snacks. By the end of the day, all my friends were encouraging me to stop giving them away and finally start a business. That moment was the beginning of Jozi Brownies.
The name also has a special meaning. We live in Johannesburg — or “Jozi” as we all lovingly call it — and it also comes from the first two letters of my name and surname: JOanne ZImmerman.
What started as baking during lockdown has now turned into something made with love, shared with friends, and enjoyed by so many people.
